Download the practice strokes worksheet (above) and recreate it exactly as you see it. Draw the boxes, do the practice strokes inside each box, and label the boxes appropriately.
I will be giving you a shading demonstration, but please also watch this video tutorial to see a quick version of shading using hatching and cross-hatching. *Note: In the video he uses Micron pens and we are using old school dip pen and ink, but the technique is pretty much the same.

PROJECT: Choose a subject matter that fits with one of the following themes:
HOME
CELEBRATE
STRENGTH
WORRY
This drawing will be a drawn collage of images that reflect on your chosen theme.
Find your resources (your own photos, objects, copyright free and creative commons images) and do your planning sketches in your sketchbook.
Your drawing will be on 12 x 12 heavy paper. Sketch the bones of the drawing first in pencil before beginning with the pen and ink.
Reflection Questions:
1. How are pencil drawing skills similar and different from ink drawing skills?
2. How did you choose and then represent your chosen theme in your artwork?
3. If you could give pen and ink tips to new art students, what would you tell them?
