Use the following tips to uplevel your colored pencil skills:
1. Build up color slowly with multiple LIGHT LAYERS.
2. To get shadow colors use dark cool colors (like dark blue, purple, green and also deep red) mixed with the original color (not black!)
3. To make colors more interesting, mix analogous colors with the local color (for example: red orange with red or blue violet with blue.)
4. Look for hard edge color changes and soft edge color changes.
5. Be patient and pay attention!
