Take self portraits or portraits of someone else that express an emotion. The more creative and expressive the portrait, the better.
After taking several photos (to give yourself lots of options!), decide the style and medium in which you would like to create. Research portrait styles and choose one that speaks to you (from cartooning and caricature to the serious portraiture of Rembrandt.) You may paint in a variety of mediums, draw in a variety of mediums, or create a sculpture in clay or other materials.
Please remember that expression of an emotion is key to the success of this piece.
Reflection Questions:
1) What was most challenging about taking a photo resource that would work with this project?
Do you enjoy taking portraits or selfies? Why or why not?
2) What emotion were you expressing in your portrait? Why did you choose the style and medium
you did?
3) How successful was your portrait? What worked and what did you struggle with?
