1. Native American Beading techniques
First, read about the history of beading: HERE.
Research historical Native American beading patterns . I will demonstrate how to do this and give you size requirements (no more than 12 beads wide.) You may create a design you choose, including lettering. I will demonstrate how to do the beading on the loom. You may use the beads I have, or if you want a lot of one color, purchase your own.

1. Caricature Drawings
Caricatures are cartoons that exaggerate a person's features in a humorous way.
First, read about the history of caricatures: HERE.
Then choose a famous person and Google image search their caricatures. Notice the variety that comes up and how there is NO ONE RIGHT WAY to do it!
Watch THIS VIDEO for an excellent, simple demonstration.
Create 2 caricatures (3rd one is extra credit) from magazine photos (do practice sketches first.) Turn in the magazine photo with your drawing. Use 9x12 paper. Draw caricature, outline in Sharpie and then color in colored pencil. You may also draw from a photo of someone you know, as long as you have permission from that person.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS:
1. Name one thing you need to remember to tell yourself when you are trying something new and explain why that thought is important.
2. Critique your work. What worked well and what did you struggle with? Also give yourself a grade for this project.
