There is so much inspiration to be had by artists through the ages! Studying the techniques, processes and artwork of other artists is an awesome way to improve and gain some new skills. This project will give you an opportunity to be inspired by artists from the past and those currently working today.
Choose a historical or contemporary artist (see list below) and create a work based on their style. When defining the style of the artist, make notes in your sketchbook about how they use COLOR, LIGHT, and BRUSHSTROKES. You may also talk about subject matter, but you do not have to paint the same themes they do.
Practice their style in your sketchbook and then begin your painting with a light pencil sketch. Work from a photo resource AND the artist's work!

1) How does studying the art and technique of other artists improve your artwork?
2) Name the artist you studied and explain how they used COLOR, LIGHT, and
BRUSHSTROKES in their style of painting.
3) Critique your painting - what worked, what didn’t and what did you learn?
